![]() Anyway, I hope support is able to sort you out. IConfig issues are separate from the USB driver built into Windows. Contrary to popular belief, neither RME nor any other company has a lock on good audio drivers! ASIO is the professional audio standard, and ASIO4all is solid, reliable, and readily available driver. That's very important in studios, and especially when setting up on stage.Īs to audio drivers, we use the free ASIO4all driver on Windows. Just plug in and you both have access to each other's MIDI devices. There are several advantages to following standards rather than going out on your own, but here's one not everyone thinks of: easy collaboration with other musicians. ForestCat!īeing MIDI Class-Compliant - operating without proprietary software - is a great feature that we emphasize as a selling point! We're proud to support Class-Compliant USB for our hardware, and Class-Compliant USB MIDI. You're operating under a few misconceptions there, Mr. IConnectivity, PLEEEEEEZE consider a humane thing like a configurable communication port in iConfig? This is a significant issue for those on Windoze. iConfig was supposed to grab the first available instance.īut here's the thing: If you open, say MIDI-Ox and grab iCM4+ Port 4(for an example) and route it to MIDI-Yoke Port 4 (so everyone can share.), you can still open Bidule, for example, and latch unto any iCM4+ Port except #4, and nobody whines/crashes/writes bad checks/etc.ĭoes anyone (on Windows) have a workaround to be able to use iConfig WITHOUT having to exit every other MIDI application using a iCM4+ port? It was suggested that the 'workaround' is to provide two USB connections to the windows machine from the iC4+, thereby (i guess.) providing another driver instance. It unceremoniously crashes & throws a nasty error because it can't get shotgun on the MIDI driver/port/whatever. You want to change something re: port routing, mapping, filtering, etc. Ableton, Cubase, Bidule, Forte, etc, hell, even MIDI-Ox. So here's the issue: You have s/w running which accesses the iCM4+ MIDI ports, i.e. Before anyone starts, lol, MS 'single-client' WDM are NOT proper drivers. ![]()
